I completed my Bachelor of Science degrees in Zoology and Biological Aspects of Conservation at the University of WI-Madison.Ìý I continued my education as a graduate student at the University of WI-Stevens Point in the Master’s Internationalist Program, which combined research with Peace Corps service.Ìý As a Peace Corps volunteer in Belize, I worked with members of Mayan communities managing the Rio Blanco National Park, as well as with the Belize Zoo teaching environmental education in Mayan village schools.Ìý My research focused on spatial variation and phenology of breeding activity in amphibian communities in sites along a gradient from savanna to lowland forest in the Bladen Nature Reserve. I received my Master of Science degree in Natural Resources with a Wildlife emphasis.

Then I continued my education by completing my Ph.D. in Biology at the University of Miami studying patterns and mechanisms underlying species occupancy patterns in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. 

Now I am passionate about teaching. My goals as a teacher are to foster independent, critical thinking skills and curiosity of the biological world, promote learning and achievement with equity in all students, and to create better-informed citizens ready to tackle today’s challenging environmental problems.
