Purim celebrates Jewish tenacity and survival through the reading of the Book of Esther. Purim is a joyous holiday, celebrated by wearing of costumes, giving gifts to friends, giving to the poor, and socializing. Purim begins at sundown on March 22 and ends at sundown on March 23.
