Informed by the emerging field of discard studies, Wasted critiques our culture’s proclivity for overconsumption and waste. Discard studies considers more than physical waste; it also addresses power systems at the heart of waste and how that is expressed by the materials, practices, geographic regions and people which become valued and devalued. Through artworks addressing the plastics crisis, fast fashion and our food systems, this exhibition gives context for the larger machinations at play in an economic system where the individual is often burdened with end-of-life responsibility for the products these industries produce, while related programming will provide avenues for adaptability and resiliency at the individual and community levels.

We will recognize the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania with a brief service that remembers two university alumni and many others who were lost that day.

Participants will learn what employers are seeking from today’s college graduates; the importance of experiences outside of the classroom, like internships, research, leadership opportunities and part-time jobs; where to find career readiness skill building opportunities on and off campus; skills that make resumes and applications stand out and more. Family members will also learn how they can best support their students in achieving their preferred first destinations after graduation, whether it be entering the workforce, pursuing graduate education or completing fellowships or compensated service opportunities.

The FREE MONEY Game Show is like Minute to Win It and Jeopardy all rolled into one!
