DESCRIPTION:How on earth will we say goodbye to Polaris? Like everything else in life\, even the North Star changes. Due to axial precession — a slight wobble in Earth’s rotation — our North Star is not fixed. Over the 26\,000-year cycle known as the Great Year\, 11 stars will take turns guiding us\, with one “near miss.” \nSince 2015\, artist George Ferrandi has honored these stars through Jump!Star\, using Nebuta—a traditional Japanese technique for building monumental\, illuminated sculptures of paper\, wire\, string and wood. Created with communities across the country\, these sculptures form a ceremonial tradition that can be passed down to those who’ll witness the next North Star. \nA selection will be featured in once more & hopeful stars. Ferrandi will also teach a seven-week course in conjunction with the exhibition\, where °”ÍűTV students will help build a new sculpture in the gallery. \nStudent-Led Tours: Sept. 30 and Oct. 2\, 12 p.m.\nTours led by art history majors and minors. \nThe Lore Degenstein Gallery is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\, Monday-Sunday. DESCRIPTION:As a prelude to the Symposium on Historic American Music on October 16–18\, members of the faculty will present a recital of American music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The program will feature works by Herbert Clarke\, Stephen Foster and Scott Joplin with performances by Rick Benjamin\, piano\, Amy Caron\, voice\, Leslie Cullen\, flute\, Mark Lusk\, trombone\, Dale Orris\, trumpet and others. \nThe Department of Music hosts nearly 60 events a year\, including a robust schedule of ensemble concerts\, student recitals\, faculty recitals\, guest artist series and more. These free public performances reflect our mission to educate students for productive\, creative and reflective lives while providing access to exceptional musical opportunities for the surrounding community. \nJoin us in person or stream select performances to experience the artistry of our talented musicians and distinguished faculty.

All of our students\, regardless of major or class year\, are invited to audition or to serve in a technical capacity. \nTickets are required for main stage season performances. Price categories are: \n\nNon-SU Student: $10.\n\n Persons who are age 18 or younger or who have valid student identification.\n\n\nAll others are charged the adult rate: $12.\n\nA group of 15 or more is entitled to a 10% discount on tickets for the same event (when tickets are purchased together).\n\n\n\nLocated in the Degenstein Center Theater lobby\, the box office is open Monday through Friday\, noon to 5 p.m. during the academic year. DESCRIPTION:Written in 1922\, this sophisticated comedy is rich with social critique and still-timely observations about politics\, culture and women’s rights to freedom and self-determination. \nThe Department of Theatre fills the academic calendar with five main stage productions each year. All of our students\, regardless of major or class year\, are invited to audition or to serve in a technical capacity. \nTickets are required for main stage season performances. Price categories are: \n\nNon-SU Student: $10.\n\n Persons who are age 18 or younger or who have valid student identification.\n\n\nAll others are charged the adult rate: $12.\n\nA group of 15 or more is entitled to a 10% discount on tickets for the same event (when tickets are purchased together).\n\n\n\nLocated in the Degenstein Center Theater lobby\, the box office is open Monday through Friday\, noon to 5 p.m. during the academic year.
