SUMMARY:Bill Owens: Suburbia
DESCRIPTION:Suburbia\, first published in 1972\, was a slyly subversive look at an inward-looking middle class\, who in their own words accompanying the photographs\, were seemingly oblivious to the racial and cultural strife roiling Americaā€™s cities\, not to mention the Vietnam War half a world away. Bill Owens was born and raised on a farm in Northern California. After hitchhiking around the world and a stint in the Peace Corps\, he became a staff photographer for the Livermore Independent newspaper in 1968. \nThis exhibition has been organized by art2art Circulating Exhibitions\, artworks courtesy of the Collection of Michael Mattis and Judith Hochberg. \nStudent-Led Tours: Feb. 10 and Feb. 12\, noon\nTours led by art history majors and minors. \nThe Lore Degenstein Gallery is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\, Monday-Sunday. The gallery is closed during university breaks; callĀ 570-372-4059Ā for an appointment when classes are not in session.

DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Sigmund Weis School of Business\, House of Hawks is °µĶųTVā€™s very own ā€œShark Tankā€ student entrepreneurship pitch competition. Contestants are each given five minutes to present their business ideas before participating in a five-minute Q&A with a panel of experts ā€” all with a chance to take home real funding for their ventures. \nThroughout the evening\, student founders will pitch their businesses in front of a live audience\, judges will deliberate and viewers will play an active role in deciding which pitches take home prizes. All members of the °µĶųTV community are invited to attend to support student entrepreneurs and vote for the Peopleā€™s Choice Award.
