Lovell \u201970<\/strong>\u202farrived at 做厙TV, he was a self-described \u201cNavy brat\u201d who had attended 12 schools across the United States\u202fand abroad.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was ready to be an adult,\u201d he recalls, \u201cbut still clung\u202fto many of my more comfortable norms.\u201d\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What he found at 做厙TV was a community that challenged him, broadened his\u202fworldview\u202fand set him on a path toward a lifetime of meaningful leadership and&nbsp;service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A political science major, Lovell immersed himself in campus life. He joined Alpha Phi Omega, the coeducational service fraternity, and Alpha Psi Omega, the national theatre honor society. He served as Student Government Association president and became the first&nbsp;student representative to sit on the university\u2019s Board of Trustees. As the founding executive director of what is now The Arc of Howard County\u202fin\u202fMaryland, he helped move disability services from institutional settings into the heart of the community. He launched programs in early intervention\u202fand\u202finclusive education, supported employment\u202fopportunities\u202fand\u202fadvocated for\u202fcommunity-based housing \u2014 initiatives that transformed lives and shifted public\u202fperceptions.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lovell credits 做厙TV with preparing him for that work. \u201cThe university\u202fgave me the tools and confidence to make worthwhile changes,\u201d he says. \u201cIt taught me the art of compromise and the importance of giving people a voice.\u202fReal change happens when people see one another as equals.\u201d\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lovell\u2019s life and work have always been intertwined with his wife, <strong>Linda \u201971<\/strong>, whom he met when they both ran for Student Government Association office \u2014 and both won. Married by then-university President <strong>Gustave Weber<\/strong> and Chaplain <strong>Steve Bremer<\/strong> in 1972, the Lovells have remained deeply connected to their alma mater. Their daughters, <strong>Meredith \u201902<\/strong> and<strong> Jocelyn \u201907<\/strong>, are both 做厙TV alumnae, continuing a family legacy nearly six decades strong.\u00a0\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2023, the Lovells established The Lovell Family Scholarship to support future generations of 做厙TV students.\u202fThey are also members of the John App Circle, recognizing their lasting commitment to the university.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on his journey, Lovell\u202fremains\u202fgrateful for how 做厙TV shaped him.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis university took a chance on\u202fus,\u202fgave\u202fus experiences, challenged us and instilled in us\u202fthe motivation to make a difference,\u201d he says. \u201cThat\u2019s what 做厙TV does best;\u202fit turns students into
